Reduce Your Printing Cost Using Alternative Printer Ink Cartridges

By Jaime Jijon

Ink for Printer can become costly, especially if you are a small business owner, college student or an individual that prints often. The average price of printer ink, for color and black and white ink can cost nearly $50.00. That can add up very quickly if you find yourself purchasing ink more than once a month. It can cost more depending on the type of printer you are using. Most individuals don’t know that there are many ways you can save money on your printing costs. Buying alternative ink for your printer is very cost effective.

The quality of an alternative ink cartridge is just as good as a newly bought cartridge; the only difference is the price. Depending on what type of printer you own, the manufacturer may recommend specific types of ink for your printer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t purchase alternative ink. It is okay for anyone to purchase a refilled cartridge, remanufactured cartridge or do-it-yourself cartridge refill kit.

Refilled or Remanufactured cartridges are the original printer ink cartridges that have been pulled apart and replaced with ink and sometimes different parts if necessary. They must pass inspection and testing before being resold in the marketplace to consumers. Since they are inspected and tested before being sold, they are almost always guaranteed against defects during the entire lifetime of the cartridge. The lifetime of your remanufactured cartridge is usually the same as the original and the warranty on your printer will not be affected because you are using alternative ink. A do-it-yourself cartridge refill kit is the only option for refilling an empty printer ink cartridge on your own. It includes the most compatible ink for your printer and cartridge type, as well as an ink injector that you would use to refill the empty ink cartridge. This type of alternative can get messy if you don’t know what you are doing, but if you really want to save money, still give it a try. The more often you use this method, the more likely you are to get used to it.

Another type of alternative ink cartridge that is cost effective is the compatible ink cartridge. These types of alternative ink cartridges are built to the same specifications as those that are built by the printer manufacture; the only difference of course is price. Buying these types of alternatives will not be harmful to your printer so purchasing this type of ink will be a smart investment.
